In a further sign of Peru’s growing commitment to the environment and the protection and conservation of its natural heritage, an ad hoc group has been formed this month to review the government’s environmental policy. The experts called upon to form the work group include Hans Flury, Juan Incháustegui, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, Beatriz Boza and Fernando Villarán.
The group has sent a letter offering its support to Prime Minister Jorge Castillo and the Brack Commission headed by Peru’s leading biologist Antonio Brack, and it has announced an international event to which ex-ministers of the environment from Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica and Chile have been invited to discuss the environment and exchange ideas.
This multi-disciplinary team with wide experience in environmental issues has created the work group with the aim of contributing to the consolidation of a more efficient management of the environment in Peru as a preparation for the forthcoming announcement of the establishment of a Peruvian Ministry for the Environment.
